Following weeks of speculation, Ronaldo agreed to terms with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in December on a one-year contract worth £175 million. It has now been reported that Al-bitter Nassr’s rivals Al-Hilal are devising a complex plan to sign Messi this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Al-Hilal is willing to pay the winner of the 2022 World Cup $300 million (£247.4 million) per year to play in the Saudi Pro League. The 35-year-contract old’s with Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer, but there is an option for another year, and Messi has reportedly assured the French club that he will sign an extension and play at least one more season at Parc des Princes before considering other options.

Jorge Messi, Leo’s dad and agent, has supposedly already travelled to Saudi Arabia to discuss a potential move. Nasser Al-Attiyah, a relative of the Emir of Qatar, has added fuel to fire after reportedly stating: “Messi, his next club after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, will be Saudi Arabia.”
