Why I run so fast – Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi

Karim Adeyemi, the star forward for Borussia Dortmund, has revealed that African dishes, particularly fufu, are the secret to his speed.

Dortmund’s only goal against Chelsea in the champions league round of 16 first-leg tie at Signal Iduna Park came from the German striker of Nigerian descent.

“I eat a lot of African food,” he said.

“Because I have good genetics from my father, I believe it will be difficult.”

Pressed as to the exact food he eats, Adeyemi responded, “It is called fufu, and it’s a Nigerian food which is very good.” he revealed.

When asked if he was the fastest player in Germany, he laughed and replied, “I don’t know.”

“But it’s one thing I’m good at, but the other players are better at other things.”

Adeyemi, 21, scored a fantastic solo goal after picking up the ball inside his own half and running almost the entire length of the field, beating Enzo Fernandez for pace along the way before rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into an empty goal.
