
Benue State University, Makurdi, will graduate 23,060 students in a four-set combined convocation ceremony on Saturday.
The university will also confer honorary doctorate degrees on some distinguished Nigerians including Chancellor, His Gracious Majesty, King Disreal Gbobo Bob-Manuel II, for Doctor of Laws; Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, for Doctor of Laws; Dr Paul Enenche for Doctor of Divinity; Chief Christopher Chuka Erdodu for Doctor of Commercial, and Prince Arthur Eze for Doctor of Business Administration.
Professor Joe Tor Iorapuu, Vice-Chancellor, stated this during the pre-convocation press briefing at the school’s Senate chambers on Thursday.
He stated that there were 20,815 bachelor’s degrees, 494 postgraduate diplomas, 1,605 master’s degrees, and 146 PhDs.
According to the VC, the combined convocation will be titled “BSU at 30: Boundless Years of Academic Growth,” and the institution will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Iorapuu stated that he has achieved tremendous success since his arrival and expressed delight that 11 of the 12 academic programs scheduled for accreditation have been fully accredited.
“We are hopeful that the proposed Bachelor of Pharmacy programme will begin in the 2020/2023 academic session,” he said. Architecture, Geology, Building, and Special Education programs are expected to follow.”
