The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has announced the release of the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), 2022- Second Series.

It was reported that 77,768 candidates registered for the examination, with seventy-three thousand, four hundred and twenty-four (73,424) candidates taking the exam at six hundred and thirty-eight (638) centers spread across the country.

Thirty-six thousand, one hundred and forty-one (36,141) males and thirty-seven thousand, two hundred and eighty-three (37,283) females made up the total of 73,424 candidates who took the exam, representing 49.22% and 50.78%, respectively.

One hundred and forty-three (143) candidates with varying degrees of special needs were among the 73,424 candidates who took the exam. Forty-four (44) were visually impaired, and sixteen (16) had impaired hearing. There were 19 Albinos and 9 physically challenged people. The administration of the examination adequately accommodated all of these candidates.

The results of 72,265 candidates, representing 98.42%, have been fully processed and released. In contrast, one thousand, one hundred and fifty-nine (1,159) candidates, or 1.58%, have a few of their subjects still being processed due to candidate errors. However, efforts are being made to complete the processing so that all affected candidates can receive their complete results.

Forty-two thousand, four hundred and five (42,405) candidates obtained credit or higher in at least five (5) subjects (with or without English Language and/or Mathematics); thirty thousand, nine hundred and fifty-four (30,954) candidates obtained credit or higher in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

The results of 7,871 candidates, representing 10.72% of all candidates who took the exam, are being withheld due to various reported cases of examination malpractice.

Candidates who took the exam should check their results using the steps outlined below.

Candidates who sat the examination should follow the procedure below to check their results;

  • Log on to waecdirect.org
  • Enter Examination number
  • Select Examination year as 2022
  • Select Examination type as PRIVATE CANDIDATES
  • Enter your PIN and serial number
  • Then click on submit to view your results
