Zamfara: Gov. Bello Matawalle has sacked SSG, Chief of Staff, Commissioners, others


With immediate effect, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has fired the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Bello, and all 23 commissioners.

This is according to a statement signed by Malam Zailani Bappa, Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Media, and Communications. In addition, the governor approved the dismissal of his Chief of Staff, retired Col. Bala Mande, and his Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr Bashir Maru.

All Chairmen and members of state Commissions and Boards of various agencies were also removed by the governor. Except for the Ministry of Security and Home Business, which will be managed by DIG rtd. Mohammed Tsafe, Matawalle ordered the ousted commissioners to hand over their ministries’ affairs to their respective Permanent Secretaries.

He stated that the chairmen of disbanded boards should pass responsibility to the most senior directors. He stated, “The Office of the Secretary to the State Government shall be overseen by the Head of Service.”
