The Spanish club is thought to want around £19 million for a six-month loan deal that includes wages, but Arsenal believes this is too much and will only pursue a move if the figures are correct.
A loan move for the 23-year-old, who is under contract with Atletico until the summer of 2026, benefits both clubs.
