The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced this at a pre-examination press conference in Lagos on Thursday.
The school-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2023 will last seven weeks, from May 8 to June 23.
In his remarks, Patrick Areghan, Head of National Office, stated that 1,621,853 candidates from 20,851 government and private schools registered for the examination.
The new development comes as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) completes the 2023 edition of its tertiary institution entrance examinations.
How to Check JAMB 2023 UTME Results
Examination bodies in Nigeria, such as WAEC, JAMB, and the National Examination Council (NECO), have always compared notes in order to adjust their calendars to avoid clashes of activities.
Most of the time, the same candidates take the various examinations, and the examination bodies have stated that it is in their best interests to avoid timetable clashes.
