Tension, As Boko Haram Attempts To Take Over Air Force Base in Kaduna

On Saturday morning, Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group, attempted to take over the Nigerian Air Force facility in Kaduna.

According to FIJ, a gunfight between terrorists and military personnel lasted about two hours as of 6 a.m. on Saturday, according to an Air Force official.

Terrorists had approached the base from behind.

The huge area of the Air Force base makes it vulnerable to leakage.

This attack came just two days after SaharaReporters revealed that gunmen suspected of being bandits stormed the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State, and stole a herd of livestock.

Though the exact quantity of cattle stolen could not be determined, one eyewitness told SaharaReporters that based on recent experience, the cows would not be less than a hundred.

The livestock were owned by Army officers, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for security reasons.

As a result, he was taken aback that the barracks could be so vulnerable to bandits that they might strike without facing any resistance.

According to the eyewitness, the first time it happened was last year, when the bandits took away about 400 cows in what he described as a bloodless raid on the barracks.

He did say, though, that some of the animals went to their ranch.
