President Buhari Appoints New NYSC DG to takes over today

The appointment of Brig. General Y.D. Ahmed as Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been approved by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

He will officially take over from Christy Uba, who has been in charge of the NYSC for about three months.

Following the dismissal of Brig. General Mohammed Fadah, the Presidency appointed Uba as the most senior director in an acting capacity.

When she was named acting DG on November 22, 2022, she was the corps’ Director, Information and Communications Technology.

The new substantive DG was announced in an invitation to Uba’s handover sent to our correspondent on Sunday.

“I am directed to invite you to the handing over ceremony from the acting DG to the 20th DG of NYSC, Brig Gen YD Ahmed, holding on Monday, January 30, 2023, by 11:30am at the Major Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim Conference Hall, NYSC Headquarters, Maitama Abuja,” read the invitation titled “New DG for NYSC.”

Uba had promised to restore the organization’s status and make it more visible shortly after her appointment as an acting member.
