
Dr. Uchechi Iweala, the son of World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonji-Iweala, has set a medical record in Maryland, United States.
The WTO chief stated on Thursday that her son was one of the first spinal surgeons in Maryland to perform a successful navigated lumbar spinal fusion using a robot.
Dr. Iweala is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery, according to the Center for Advanced Orthopeadics.

The doctor earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Harvard, and his orthopaedic surgery residency training at George Washington University. Dr. Iweala also completed a spine surgery fellowship at New York University.
Robotic Spine Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Cervical and Lumbar Disc Replacement, Spinal Fusion/Arthrodesis, Nerve Releases, and other procedures are among his specialties.
