Nigerian Army Dismissed Allegations of Creating ‘unknown gunmen and Biafra National Guard’

Nigerian Army denies creating 'unknown gunmen and Biafra National Guard'

The Nigerian Army has dismissed allegations that the Biafra National Guard and unknown gunmen in the South-East were founded by it or the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed that the DSS founded these groups in order to divide Igbos and portray the IPOB as a criminal organization.

The Army called the allegations a fabrication perpetrated by the IPOB and the Eastern Security Network in order to detract from popular support for its military operations in the South-East.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, stated this in a statement titled, ‘Conspiracy Pretext Employed By IPOB/ESN, A Hoax,’ issued on Saturday, October 30.

“The Nigerian Army (NA) is not concerned about the antics of individuals or groups whose stock in trade is spreading falsehood and disinformation to stay relevant in South-East Nigeria,” the statement stated.

The malicious statement by Kalu Odinakachi, who alleged that the DMI and DSS formed and supported BNG, UGM to Enforce-Sit-at-Home in an effort to undermine IPOB/ESN, is one example of such scheming currently in the media realm. It must be stated unequivocally that this baseless accusation is unsubstantiated and could be a hoax.

“Though the NA does not wish to elevate such purveyors of deception and propaganda, it is necessary to state that IPOB/operations ESN’s have clearly taken on a violent dimension in recent years.”

Propaganda and deception are used to stir up emotions and gain sympathy from innocent citizens in the region, resulting in an inconceivable amount of violence.

For the record, the proscribed group yesterday imposed a sit-at-home order to show support for their self-proclaimed leader.

“Realizing the futility, hollowness, and public rejection of their violent agitation, they twisted the narrative in the region to rally local support.” Their crazy claim that BNG and UGN were an overt operation by the DMI and DSS is not only laughable, but also mainly illusive and a ploy to weaken public support for the NA’s ongoing exercises.

Odinakachi failed to realize that such a designation as DMI no longer exists in the NA in his blatant display of ignorance.

These criminal elements, along with their cohorts, must accept the reality of the ongoing Exercise GOLDEN DAWN and surrender to security forces, or face the consequences.

“We encourage members of the public to provide actionable information to security agencies as the Exercises progress,” the statement added.
