1940 saw the birth of Neil Francis Cronin, who passed away in 2023. After a long and happy life, Neil Francis Cronin, 83, of Dedham, Massachusetts, passed away at home on November 17, 2023, accompanied by his children. Neil was the devoted father of Sheila Vazquez and her husband Adam of Westwood, Neil Cronin Jr. and his wife Maryellen of Dedham, and Mary Beth Cronin of Dedham.
Brian Cronin and his wife Janine of Norwood, Karen Tobin and her husband John of West Roxbury, and Tricia Cronin of Dedham. Patricia (Salmon) had been Neil’s loving wife for 53 years when she passed away. I’m thrilled to be Adam, Elizabeth, Dylan, Joseph, Shane, James, Braden, Kevin, Mary Kate, Marcus, Melanie, and Natalie’s proud grandparents. Growing up in Dorchester, he was one of seven brothers.
His late parents, Francis and Elizabeth Cronin, reared him in Massachusetts. In 1940, he was born in Boston. Neil was predeceased by his brothers Leo, Kenneth (and his late wife, Joan), and Stephen. The last of his siblings to die was Neil. His siblings Gerard and his wife Ann, Paul and his wife Dianne, and Philip and his wife Donna survive him. Patricia Cronin, his sister-in-law, also survives him. Furthermore, a substantial number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews survive him.
as well as a sizable circle of friends. Neil joined the US Air Force after completing his studies at Boston Trade and St. Gregory’s Parochial School. He traveled around South East Asia for the following five years while serving his country. He had a fruitful 45-year career at Boston College after serving in the military, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in English studies.
As an adjunct professor at the Peterson School, he enjoyed helping aspiring electricians get ready for their journeyman’s licensing exams in his free time. In addition, he was the electrical inspector for the town of Dedham.
