All telecoms operators (MTN, Airtel, Globacom, 9mobile, and ntel), as well as Fixed Wireless and Wired Network operators, have been instructed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to shut down telecoms operations in Zamfara State.

The decision, according to the letter, will allow key security services to carry out the necessary activities in order to meet the state’s security concerns.
In the first case, the closure order would last two weeks, following which the state’s security status would be assessed.
