Benue Cooperatives Unify to strengthen agricultural value chain

Benue Agro Networking Cooperative Union Limited brings together seven primary cooperatives in Benue State to improve the state’s agricultural value chain from farmers to export.

This was revealed today by Hon. Lady Dorcas Ukpe, the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Food Security and Nutrition, during the presentation of certificates to the gubernatorial candidates.

Mrs Lucy Kyase, director of cooperatives in the Ministry of Industry and Cooperatives, presented the certificates.

Growers, off-takers, processors, marketers, packaging, manufacturers (fabricators), transporters, and storage, according to Hon. Ukpe, were brought together to harness the potentials of the various groups of participants in the agricultural value chain, which included growers, off-takers, processors, marketers, packaging, manufacturers (fabricators), transporters, and storage.

She urged all to join hands with Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration to work towards achieving maximum food security by treating agriculture as a corporation.

The Director of Cooperatives also urged members to take cooperative business seriously, as it is done around the world for economic growth.
