Alia dissolves Benue varsity governing council, demands audit

 

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has dissolved the Governing Council of the Benue State University, BSU, Makurdi, with immediate effect.

According to a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor also formed a 7-man Visitation Panel with the mandate to thoroughly audit the university’s activities since 2016, when the last panel visited.

Kula stated that the panel was asked to thoroughly investigate activities at the institution and report back with recommendations for appropriate action.

The statement also stated that the Panel would be inaugurated on Monday (today), 8 am at the Government House, Makurdi, the state capital.
