Following the successful conclusion of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, with Argentina winning the title after 36 years, all eyes are now on the next FIFA World Cup tournaments in 2026 and 2030, respectively.
In 2026, the United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the FIFA World Cup. These North American countries will host the event in a completely new and expanded format by providing platforms to 48 nations. Before it was decided, this brand-new format had been the subject of heated debate.
Unlike the United States and Mexico, which will host it for the second and third times, Canada will host the FIFA World Cup for the first time.
The three countries were chosen to host the event in 2018 and gave it the name “United 2026” after a majority of FIFA’s congress voted in their favor over Morocco.
FIFA has announced a list of sixteen cities from these three countries that will serve as match venues.

Atlanta, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, New York/New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, and Miami are among the eleven cities. Mexico has three venues: the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, and the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara. The games will be held in two locations in Canada: BMO Field in Toronto and Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
While it is unclear which country will host the FIFA World Cup in 2030, several countries have submitted bids. Everyone was caught off guard when Ukraine officially joined Spain and Portugal in their joint bid because the country is currently embroiled in a conflict with Russia that is destroying its assets.
Morocco hopes to secure the 2030 World Cup after losing out to North American countries in the bid for the 2026 World Cup. Furthermore, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, and Chile are all competing with a joint bid option.
