On Monday, the West African Examinations Council in Nigeria published the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates, 2021.
Mr Patrick Areghan, the Head of the Nigeria National Office, said the exam, which was an international one, took place simultaneously throughout the five member countries of the Council, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, while releasing the results at the WAEC office.
He went on to say that the same international timetable was observed.
“The examination ended on October 8, 2021, and we are releasing the results today, Monday, November 22, 2021 – 45 days after the last paper was taken,” he said.
“Considering that we lost a week due to insecurity during the marking exercise in the South East, which was prompted by the heightened tensions before and during the Anambra Gubernatorial election, this is a record time.”
“It is, therefore, not true, as you can see, that WAEC delayed the release of the WASSCE (SC) 2021 results, as some have speculated.” Despite all odds, we have kept our promise.
“We should be praised rather than being vilified. Nothing can be faster or earlier than what we have done.
“We do not even release results till the scripts have been marked and the scores have been processed. We are grateful to the examiners for finishing the job in the period stipulated.”
