Empty Streets in Anambra Despite halt of IPOB's Sit at Home Order

Despite the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB’s decision to lift its sit-at-home order, streets in Awka, Anambra state, are currently deserted.

The group had previously declared plans to call for a sit-at-home order in protest of Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing detention. This would have thrown the state’s governorship election, scheduled for November 6, into disarray. The group announced its intention to halt the order on Thursday, November 4.

Regardless of the fact that the order has been suspended, residents of the state have decided to stay indoors today. This morning, all public and private businesses were kept under lock and key.
