A building collapsed in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State on Monday, trapping many people.

The incident occurred a few minutes after 2 p.m., according to reports.

The collapse was confirmed by Nosa Okunbo, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Agency, who said, “A 21-story building collapsed by Musliu Junction, Ikoyi, Lagos.” The situation is under control by LASEMA.”

Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General of LASEMA, also stated that heavy-duty equipment and life detection equipment have been deployed to the spot.

“Collapsed Building at Gerard Road, Ikoyi: The agency has initiated its emergency response plan to the above incident,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.

“While heavy-duty equipment and life detection equipment have been despatched, all first responders are en route to secure the scene.”
