On the 13th of November, 2021, at approximately 0300 hours, information was received that a group of three (3) gunmen, identified by eye witnesses as known persons from the Sankara area, invaded Imande Abur village, Mbategh council ward, and opened fire sporadically at mourners gathered at a funeral ceremony.

Police teams within the area swiftly moved to the area but suspects took to their heels on sighting the police.
Five people were shot and rushed to the hospital for treatment, but four of them died while undergoing treatment.
