A Kenyan woman has been charged with causing bodily harm to her husband by splashing hot water on his chest and face.
On Friday, July 9, Esther Wanjiku Githae was charged in Kibera before senior principal magistrate Monica Maroro.
The woman allegedly scalded Peter Kariuki on July 5 at 9 p.m. in Kagira, Dagoreti, Nairobi county, according to the charge sheet.
When Kariuki knocked on the door, the woman opened it and splashed hot water on his chest and face, according to police.
The complainant was forced to spend the night at the home of his next-door neighbour. He was taken to the hospital the next day, when he was treated and discharged.
According to police, members of the public later contacted Kabete’s OCS.
Esther, on the other hand, denied the charges and was released following paying a Sh10,000 bail.
On July 17, the case will be reviewed.
