Months after Sanusi’s dethronement, another Emir of Kano is enthroned (photos)


The new Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, was crowned today, July 3, following the dethronement of former CBN governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, was sworn in as emir on March 9, 2020, after Muhammadu Sanusi ll was deposed by the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. For “insurbordination,” Sanusi was removed.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, state governors, top government functionaries, and diplomats were in attendance at the Sani Abacha Stadium for the coronation.
