Buhari, Osinbajo Decorate Farouk Yahaya As Chief Of Army Staff

President Muhammadu Buhari decorated Major General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, on Wednesday, July 7.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and other senior government officials were present at the brief ceremony, which took place at the State House in Abuja before the opening of the weekly virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC).

He was also decorated with a new rank of Lieutenant General.

On May 27, the Chief of Army Staff was appointed to replace Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in a plane crash near Kaduna. Yahaya’s appointment was confirmed by the National Assembly last month.

After his decoration, the Chief of Army staff vowed that the war would continue to intensify against insurgents, many of whom have already been killed.
