Tina Lawson, Beyonce’s mother, has called for a judicial change in the United States, citing the sentencing of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Derek was found guilty of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in April.
In May 2020, film shows him kneeling for nine minutes on Floyd’s neck, gasping for air.
Footage of him kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes while he gasped for air and cried, “I can’t breathe,” shocked the globe and caused violent protests across the US in May 2020.
Tina, 67, spoke out about Derek’s 22-and-a-half-year sentence, revealing that a loved one is serving a comparable sentence for a much less criminal offence.
