Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, fired 20 of his 28 commissioners on Wednesday afternoon.
The eight commissioners from the ministries of health, youth and sports, tourism, information and strategy, women’s affairs, works, finance, and technology were not affected by the announcement.
Two weeks ago, the governor said that some of his appointees were sabotaging his administration.
The 20 commissioners were fired just one month after the governor reshuffled his cabinet and named new Finance and Health Commissioners.
The sacking came as a shock to the affected appointees, as there had been no indication that it would happen.
