Benue Speaker has reaffirms his commitment to community policing

Rt. Hon. Titus Uba, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, has resolved to work with the leaders of other Nigerian state legislatures to press the federal government to decentralize security arrangements and allow states to establish community police to combat criminality.

This resolution was made by Rt.Hon. Uba in collaboration with the Principal Officers of other State Assemblies in the north central region.

The lawmakers discussed the current security situation in Nigeria, especially in the North Central region, where abduction, herdsmen attacks, robbery, and malicious destruction of lives and property have become the norm.

The forum also urged the federal government to begin building federal roads in the north central area to improve mobility.

They also made a case for the presidency, demanding to know the president’s stance on the zoning of presidential tickets in the upcoming 2023 general elections, while also urging all political parties to zone presidential tickets to the north central region and urging politicians from the region to run in large numbers for the presidency.

Finally, the forum agreed to continue to promote unity and peace in Nigeria, especially in the north central region, in order to ensure unity and growth.
